The Benefits of Coworking

From BecomeNomad.com,
“A “coworking space” is a place where you can go on a daily basis, sit down at a random table (or a fixed one, in certain places), and enjoy a good internet connection, coffee, a kitchen, and the company of like-minded people. Altogether, it supplies you with an office environment without the necessity of everyone working on the same project, to each his/her own, but together. Those spaces are now becoming common around the world”

This definition covers the basics, but we’re going to round out the fun details with what makes a Gather workspace such a great place to work.

We’ve drafted a nice bullet-point list of some of our favorite perks of being a coworker. And this isn’t just the advantages for any ol’ coworking space — this list is as Gather as it gets! Image result for celebration emoji

  • You’ll be around other people
Psychologist Susan Pinker states that direct person-to-person contact triggers parts of our nervous system that release a “cocktail” of neurotransmitters tasked with regulating our response to stress and anxiety.

Put simply, when we communicate with people face-to-face, it could strengthen our resilience to stress factors as well as making us feel better.

She adds that, as a result of social interaction, “dopamine is [also] generated, which gives us a little high and it kills pain, it’s like a naturally produced morphine.”

When you work at one of our locations, if you’re not renting a private office (or choosing not to use it that day) you’ll have the option to work at a table full of fellow coworkers, or you can find yourself a nice quiet corner not far away from all the fun — but distant enough that you can focus on your work. But just getting up to grab a cup of coffee can yield a new friendship or even a networking opportunity!

In short: you’ll be out of your living room or home office; and in a fun, professional environment full of social opportunities that can be seized on your own terms.

  • Work in Comfort
What does comfort mean to you? Whether it’s a beautiful, polished (yet relaxed!) atmosphere; great furniture to work at and sit on; unlimited local coffee, local cookies every week (!), or any other of the myriad personal definitions of comfort, we’ve got you covered.

  • Accessible expert help when needed
Let’s face it: we all hit walls. And often we find ourselves with questions specific to highly specialized fields. But thankfully working at Gather means that you are working around a collective knowledge great enough to answer just about any question. Maybe all you need to do is ask somebody working in the same room as you, or even at the same table! Or, only slightly more difficult, ask your location’s Community Manager for their professional opinion on who you can reach out to, and then you can hop on Slack and shoot them a direct message. That’s what you call crowd-sourcing knowledge!

  • Somebody else is paying for (and maintaining!) the overhead costs
Whether it’s a printer out of paper or ink, or your coffee machine broke, or maybe your home’s central air is acting kind of wonky — there’s nothing like a minor distraction working from home that causes an avalanche of falling behind your work schedule. Here’s the great news: Gather supplies all the local coffee you could ever need, we take care of keeping our spaces cool in the summer and warm in the winter, we’ve got you covered when it comes to great printers full of paper and ink, functioning fast wifi, — and this is just the short list of amenities and basic overhead provisions.
